Microsoft has rolled out Windows Insiders with its latest build called Unified Update Platform (UUP).

Microsoft’s UUP is a differential download package that allows users to download only the changes that have been made since the last time they updated their device, instead of a full
build. The UUP effectively reduces the size of download and the differential download is available on all devices built on the Mobile as well as PC OS. “As we rollout UUP, this will eventually be impactful for PCs where users can
expect their download size to decrease by approximately 35% when going from one major update of Windows to another,” said Bill Karagounis, Director of Program Management, Windows Insider Program & OS Fundamentals in a blogpost.
Microsoft says it has made checking for updates by the devices more efficient. Now, when a device will check for update using UUP, the Windows Update service will evaluate which updates are needed by a given device and then returns these updates to the device for download and install. This will result in faster checks for update operations as well.
“It’s important to note that with UUP, nothing will look or behave differently on the surface, UUP is all underlying platform and service optimization that happens behind the scenes,”
says Bill. Microsoft has started rolling out UUP Mobile devices, which will be made available in stages. The company is expected to start using UUP for PC Insider builds later this year and then
IoT and HoloLens shortly after.
