Large files that can take a long time to download in 2G or 3G can be downloaded in 4G in minutes. For example, with 4G LTE, you can download a 1.4 GB movie in just 5 minutes and 28 seconds.

How can I get 4G LTE?

The first step is to make sure your phone and SIM card are compatible with 4G. To find out if your phone has 4G LTE, visit gsmarena and search for the model of your phone. Check the “Technology” tab and look for “LTE” as in the screenshot below
Now that you have confirmed that your phone supports 4G LTE, follow these steps to make the change.

MTN subscribers

Change your current SIM card for a USIM
Text 4G to 131, and
You will receive an SMS confirming that your device is ready for 4G / LTE

Glo Subscribers

Change your current SIM card for a USIM
Text 4G to 400, and
You will receive an SMS to verify if your phone or device is compatible with LTE for Glo

Subscribers of Etisalat or 9mobile

They are exempt from performing a SIM exchange.
The Etisalat or 9mobile LTE service automatically appears as long as your device supports LTE and once you are in Automatic Network Configuration mode. And you are in an area covered by 4G.

Airtel’s subscribers

The Airtel network has not been moved to 4G LTE yet. Users may have to wait a while before enabling this feature on their devices. To check at any time if this service is available, tweet @airtelcare for a status update.
Follow these three main steps and you should be ready for 4G LTE.
