Samsung Galaxy S11 / Galaxy S20 news, leaks, release date, price and specs

Samsung Galaxy S11 / Galaxy S20 news, leaks, release date, price and specs
With just a few weeks to go, the Galaxy S11 (currently launched as the Samsung Galaxy S20) leaks, rumors, and predictions are increasing dramatically – and we’re here to offer you everything we know so far about Samsung’s overloaded phone for 2020.

From the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S11 / S20 to the screen dimensions, we collect everything we hear on this page until the phone is officially launched on February 11, 2020. Check back here regularly for the latest news and rumors about the close to several generations of Samsung.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S11 / S20: THE NAME

Will the Samsung Galaxy S11 really come under the name Samsung Galaxy S20?
So far, we are referring to the phone like the Samsung Galaxy S11. However, there are rumors that the phone will be released under another name: the Samsung Galaxy S20.

All participants agree that this is the same phone with a different name, instead of two different phones. We still don’t know what title the device will adopt at launch, so we will continue to use the “Samsung Galaxy S11” until we hear something official from Samsung.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S11 / S20: LAUNCH DATE

Expect the Samsung Galaxy S20 to be held this way at Samsung’s Unpacked event in February.
Samsung Galaxy S11 release date revealed

The Galaxy S11 / Galaxy S20 release date is February 11, 2020, probably during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco, an event scheduled to demonstrate Samsung’s “new and innovative” Galaxy devices.

This is in line with the February release date reports from the SamMobile fan site and Iceuniverse leaker, and fits in with previous release schedules: it would be Samsung’s sixth flagship to debut in February.

Remember that the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 Plus and Galaxy S10e first saw daylight on February 20, 2019, so if the Galaxy S11 / S20 arrives in February, it would make a lot of sense (and would give the Galaxy S10 phones 12 months on sale). However, before the launch of the S11, a ‘lite’ version of the S10 will arrive first, so the Galaxy S11 will not be Samsung’s next device, although it is the best.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 / S11: PRICE

A potential Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra render and red colorway.
As for the price of the Samsung Galaxy S11 / S20, in 2019, the Galaxy S10 prices started at £ 669 / $ 749 on the S10e, £ 799 / $ 899 on the S10 and £ 899 / $ 999 on the S10 Plus – that’s the kind of area where we are talking about the launch price of the Galaxy S11, but we will have to wait and see if Samsung decides to increase or decrease the new batch of devices.

A leaker, Max Weinbach, of XDA Developers, revealed what he believes will be the prices of the new Galaxy 5G Galaxy devices in European markets. It is rumored that the S20 5G is € 900-1000. The S20 + 5G is priced at € 1050-1100, while the S20 Ultra 5G is priced at € 1300.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 / S11: DESIGN

In 2019, Samsung went with a 5.8-inch screen for the S10e, a 6.1-inch screen for the S10 and a 6.4-inch screen for the S10 Plus. It seems likely that the three new Samsung Galaxy S11 devices will follow this type of model, although the screen sizes may get even bigger. These leaked screen protectors show us what to expect, with three different sizes defined for the S11e, S11 and S11 Plus, respectively.

The concept above LetsGoDigital offers some hints about what we might be seeing, with a curved screen and touch icons replacing physical on/off switches and volume control.

And what about the notch? It is not inconceivable that, in the February 2020 season, Samsung figured out how to incorporate a camera under the screen, completely removing the need for a notch. However, more leaks show the hole in place, so if it needs to, it looks like the on-screen camera won’t be with us for at least two more generations of phones.

We know that Samsung is at least thinking of a phone with a sliding screen that reveals the camera facing forward when you need it, but that seems a little strange for the S11. Perhaps it is something to keep in mind for the Galaxy S13 in 2021, although we do not rule out anything: the Galaxy S11 may even be without a button.

Will the Samsung Galaxy S20 be buttonless?

We know that Samsung was thinking of making the Note 10 without a button, so maybe there is a clue there. The above renderings, courtesy of Phone Arena, show what may be coming through Samsung, but at this stage, they are more speculative than anything else.

As you would probably expect, the frames get even smaller, although the front camera is still housed in a notch.
At this stage in the evolution of the Galaxy S series, Samsung is unlikely to bring surprises in the design department, even though we hear that the S11 has been codenamed, Picasso. The launch of the Galaxy Note 10 also gave us no clue, with the phone adhering to the expected model from Samsung.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S11 / S20: SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES

Can we expect a 64MP main rear camera on the Samsung Galaxy S20?

It is in the specifications and features departments that we have already heard some rumors of the Galaxy S20 / S11 – such as the rumor from China that Samsung processor chips will switch to 5-nanometer technology in time for the S11 launch. What does that mean? Faster speeds, essentially with less battery consumption (the best chipsets of 2019 work with 7nm technology).

When it comes to cameras, we know that Samsung is already producing 64MP sensors ready for the next flagships, which could help the S11 camera regain some of the ground Samsung has lost to companies like Huawei and Google in the camera department. Could we get another extra lens on Galaxy S11 phones? It is possible because it is a 100x “space zoom” optical feature.

Informants who were already there are predicting that the Galaxy S11 camera will be worth the wait – and that it will have some specifications that put the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 phones in the shade.
Of course, rumors also suggest that there will be a Samsung Galaxy S11 +, which would be named Samsung Galaxy S20 + according to the latest name rumor.

The latest rumors are pointing to a huge 108MP camera sensor and 8K video on the back of the Galaxy S11, which means you can expect to take some absolutely stunning pictures with this phone when it finally appears. Samsung is often at the forefront of camera phone technology and 2020 look no different.

There are also strong rumors that the five-camera setup will look something like the iPhone 11 Pro, as seen in the rendering above, after a leak from the informant Iceuniverse.

We heard rumors that the Galaxy S11 is configured to feature a spectrometer, a special sensor that would allow the phone to do some smart chemical analysis: from weighing nutrients in food to the chemical composition of the skin. It is a strange rumor, but we are prepared to continue.

As for other features, Samsung already marks almost every box you can imagine – with a Samsung Galaxy S10 5G on the table, no doubt the 5G will also be present in the Galaxy S11. One of the strangest rumors we’ve heard so far, that you should take with a pinch of salt is that the S11 will feature holographic notifications that float in the air – again, it’s based on patent registration, so we’ll just have to wait and see if it comes true.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 / S11: WHAT WE WANT TO SEE

The T3 will definitely hold the Samsung Galaxy S20 as soon as it launches, also in front of a sophisticated design wall.

So, a refined design … more power … better cameras … are there any other improvements we can expect from the Galaxy S11 / Galaxy S20? Or would that be too greedy? Well, longer battery life is always welcome. With a 5,000 mAh battery, with rumors of inclusion, it’s an area where Samsung hasn’t made much progress in recent years – could 2020 be the two-day year of battery life?

Honestly, we wouldn’t shed a lot of tears if that notch was dropped in 2020 and left us a wonderful Galaxy S11 in fullscreen. Samsung has always prided itself on the quality of its monitors, which improve with each passing year, and 2020 should prove to be no exception in this regard.

Of course, we can also expect the usual bumps of power and performance, and no doubt some have added artificial intelligence onboard as well. When the Galaxy S11 arrives, it should come with Android Q on board as well.
